One of the most important goals of fuel designer is increasing power density and fuel burnup in light water reactors. Effect of some important parameters such as fuel sintering process, the gap between fuel and clad and initial gas pressure are the cases that fuel designer are discussing about to optimizing the fuel rod behavior especially in high fuel burnup. This optimization is so important because it leads to economic behavior of nuclear reactors. In this article the home made program that is written in MATLAB software is used that can predict the effect of initial gas pressure on some important parameters such as maximum fuel temperature, fuel rod pressure at the end of working cycle, fission gas release and clad stress. By considering the aforesaid parameters the optimized value of initial gas pressure in BUSHEHR reactor is suggested. For ensuring about calculation reliability all results are compared with well-established code called FRAPCON.
